Agnes Scott College offers an intensive summer language program at the University of Oviedo in northern Spain. The Program is open to eligible students who complete one year of college-level Spanish (i.e., SPA 102) by departure date and remain in good academic and residential standing.  All participants must also enroll in SPA 206 ("Spanish Culture in Spain") for the spring semester.

Under the guidance of Resident Director and Associate Professor of Spanish Dr. Michael Schlig, participants will begin their experience with an orientation and four-day stay in Madrid before transferring to the city of Oviedo. There, students will live with local families and complete 80 hours of coursework in Spanish language and, if appropriate, history, literature and art.
The Itinerary and Homestay pages have more more information.

Upon successful completion of all aspects of the Program, participants will receive six Agnes Scott credits in Spanish. Intermediate coursework satisfies Agnes Scott’s foreign language requirement, and credits from more advanced coursework may be applied towards completion of a major or minor in Spanish.
See the Academics page for important details.
