Agnes Scott College offers an intensive summer language program at the University of Oviedo in northern Spain. The Program is open to eligible students who complete one year of college-level Spanish (i.e., SPA 102) by departure date and remain in good academic and residential standing. All participants must also enroll in SPA 206 ("Spanish Culture in Spain") for the spring semester.

Under the guidance of Resident Director and Associate Professor of Spanish Dr. Michael Schlig, participants will begin their experience with an orientation and four-day stay in Madrid before transferring to the city of Oviedo. There, students will live with local families and complete 80 hours of coursework in Spanish language and, if appropriate, history, literature and art. Upon successful completion of all aspects of the Program, participants will receive six Agnes Scott credits in Spanish. Intermediate coursework satisfies Agnes Scott’s foreign language requirement, and credits from more advanced coursework may be applied towards completion of a major or minor in Spanish. Fee: $3,895.00 (The number of enrolled participants, exchange rates, and local provider costs will determine the final fee.)

Program price includes instruction, classroom materials in Oviedo, 3 excursions and homestay while in Oviedo and tours, hotel and two meals each day while in Madrid. More information is available at the Itinerary and Homestay pages.

Airfare is not included since participants’ points of departure will vary during the summer. The Office of International Education can provide relevant information. Note that individual travel arrangements are now usually cheaper than traveling with a group.

2010 Deadlines: .

January 15, 2010:	Application with 2 passport photos and initial deposit of $250.00 (fully refundable to students not admitted to the program)
February 12, 2010:	Payment of balance of program fees or documentation of financial arrangements; U. of Oviedo registration and housing forms; copy of passport
March 19, 2010:	Medical approval and health insurance enrollment forms
